Mental Health & Myths
“True well-being is not only determined by your physical and mental health, but also by the sense of peacefulness, joyfulness, and blissfulness within you.”
Sadhguru
Health is a broader topic in today’s world. With the global economic changes, new food habits, and culture, everything plays a vital role in any individual’s health. Vata, Pitta, and Kapha are the three main ailments that determine our health per our ancient medicine. In today’s modern health society, physical health, mental health, and spiritual health refer to those three ailments of health. Each one has its diversity of importance.
In this blog, let’s focus on Mental Health and its myths. Many of us, especially of Indian origin, when we have a fever, cough, or cold alike symptoms, get faster advice from family members, friends, and neighbors to approach specialty doctors and get it recovered. But they would never see/ give us a voice in Mental Health. Society still thinks of this as a big nightmare and most widely misunderstood by every individual. They fear seeking advice from Mental Health experts. It has nothing to do with the individual’s strengths or weaknesses. A few lines or a one-page blog is not enough to go over the whole Mental health concept. In short, with the advancement of technology and mobile usage, the amount of time spent with family members has gradually reduced compared to the amount of time spent with electronic devices. Knowingly or unknowingly, this is the major contributor to getting stressed out and leading to broad Mental Health issues. In the video below, Dr. A. Vishal, the HOD of GGH Nizamabad, has shared excellent information about the Myths of Mental Health. I would encourage everyone to go through the video and help our community by focusing on Mental Health issues to lead a healthy, happy life.
